Traditional and Class Prayers

These are the traditional prayers we are learning to say in class and some of the class prayers we also say.

Traditional Prayers

SIGN OF THE CROSS
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

OUR FATHER
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be
Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done,
on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

HAIL MARY
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is
the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

GLORY BE
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Class Prayers

End of Day Prayer
Every day right at 3, my home is waiting there for me.
School is over, work is done.
Off to home I skip and run.
Thank you God my work is done.
Now I'm off to have more fun.
Amen.

Morning Prayer
My loving Creator, this new day is for you.
Please bless everything I think, I say, I do.
Amen.

Thank You God
Thank you God for the food we eat.
Thank you God for the world so sweet.
Thank you God for the birds that sing.
Thank you God for everything.
Amen.

Week 3

Hopefully the weather fines up and warms up this week - it's a tad chilly today.

Here's what's happening this week.

Monday - Last day for Calendar Art orders. If you missed the deadline on Friday, you have one last day (Monday) to put your order in.

Student Led Conferences - Are on Tuesday for the middle and senior school only. The junior school are having their conferences/celebrations on Thursday 30th November.

Swimming - Every day this week. Remember to bring your togs, towel and a plastic bag for swimming each day. PARENTS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD'S UNIFORM IS NAMED. This makes it much easier to return misplaced uniforms to the correct owners. Please check the post below regarding Rushil's uniform. If you find a uniform or part thereof at your home that does not belong to your child, please return it to school promptly. No questions asked. We are developing your child's independence in looking after their own property and putting their own clothes on - there's always a few hiccups along the way and sometimes uniforms get mixed up.

Rosary - Wednesday 8:45am - It's our turn this week. The junior school are leading the Rosary. Parents, family and friends are most welcome to come along and join with us. The Rosary is held in the school hall.

All Saints/All Souls Liturgy - Thursday 10am in the school hall. All parents, family and friends are welcome to come along and join us.

No Assembly on Friday as the middle and senior school are at athletics all day. Addition - Sausage Sizzle and/or Juicy can be ordered as usual on Friday morning.

Emmaus Icon - This religious icon is visiting our school on Thursday. We will be visiting the church in the afternoon to view it and say a prayer. Here is a link with more information - Emmaus Icon

Upcoming next week - Grandparents/Grandfriends Mass and concert is on Friday 10th November. Mass is at 9am, followed by refreshments, then a concert. All are welcome to join us for this day of celebration. Fingers crossed the weather will be fine.

Playhouse Working Bee - Thanks to all those who were able to come along and help. Thanks Leidy (Lucas' mum) for sending through these photos - the kids look like they're having a blast!

Missing Shorts and Top

BOYS - please check your shorts and tops. Somebody wore Rushil's home last week when we had swimming and they haven't yet been returned to school. They are clearly named under the label. The top is size 4 and the shorts are size 3. If you find them, please return them to school. Thanks.

Rosary & Athletics

Today in Religious Education (RE) we learned about the Rosary. The Rosary is prayers we say to Mary so that she may take our needs to Jesus. We know how to say the Our Father and are learning how to say Hail Mary. We then made our very own class Rosary.

Mylene and Rico enjoyed the activity so much they decided to make their own to take home.

This afternoon we started our training for our athletics day later in the term. We were learning how to do a scissor jump for the high jump...

...and also how to do the long jump - one foot in the hoop and land on two feet (very tricky indeed). Boy we can fly!

After all that hard work it was time for a very quick play on the big kids playground.

Week 2

Hopefully the weather forecasters have it slightly wrong this week and we see more sunshine than rain - we'd like to get outside to do some athletics practice.

NO swimming this week.

PMP starts up again this week. Remember to bring your PE gear.

Rosary - Wednesday 8:45 in the hall. All friends and family are welcome to come along and celebrate with us. Singing Practice will follow the Rosary.

Holiday Reading Logs - DUE BACK BY WEDNESDAY. Lots of you have been bringing these in. If yours is still at home, remember to bring it in by Wednesday. That pizza lunch would be great to have!

Portfolios & RE Books - Thank you to all those who have handed these back and completed the whanau pages. If yours is still at home, please bring it back this week.

An update on Buddy Bear

As you may or may not know, last week buddy decided to take a trip to Egypt.

He said goodbye to everyone and caught the taxi to the airport. He knew that we were going to be learning about Symbols this term and thought Egypt would be a good place to start because he had seen some pictures from Egypt that had loads of symbols in them (hieroglyphics).

We will be learning a little bit about Egypt so we know what he is talking about when he returns ;)

As a class we had a quick talk about Symbols, to see if anyone knew what they were...
...and then we went for a walk around the school to see if we could find some symbols. We found heaps!

We found this symbol for our school which is on our fleece too!
Good spotting.
Cohen from Room 1 came out to explain to us what the symbol of a red poppy and a cross mean.  Nice one Cohen.
We found Batman's symbol (yes Conner, we know that you really are Batman).
We found the symbol of the fish by the drains, ask your children if they know what the message is...
A symbol on a tree, the critters know what that means:)
When Buddy returns from his trip to Egypt, he will be visiting your place. It would be great if you could find some symbols and share the messages behind them. Hopefully Buddy will be back this week :0)

Keep an eye out...

...for these notices in your child's book bag

More Pool Party Photos

Hopefully my computer is over the hissy fit it threw yesterday when it wouldn't let me put extra photos up.

Yay my computer likes me again :)  Thanks Arieana for these great shots.
